We all can read our history. From it can be studied the negative aspect of slavery and imperialism but let us all begin to acknowledge the beautiful aspect of our men and their infinite ways to show the world how they can shine. Of course the President is the number one way to prove this however before him were powerful men of color, Black, Hispanic, Filipino, Ethnic white, West Indian, any men from an ethnic group that represented their culture, who had exercised the rights founded in a foreign Constitution and adapted to STILL be more than what he became brainwashed to believe he was. For our minority men the life they lead seems controlled by the dominant race. With an African-American man leading the free nation, our men can begin to restore their confidence. Our nation can see them as men with unlimited mental capabilities as well as physical dominance as most are very successful athletes and entertainers. Besides those areas of life we would like to feel privileged knowing that our men are great thinkers, innovators, entrepreneurs, leaders, and fathers.that our men are great thinkers, innovators, entrepreneurs, leaders, and fathers.
When we welcome the fad of dressing improperly and labeling it: BLACK, we need to counter with FASHION TREND because dressing improperly is not Black. Neither should hip be equated with black men. Most brothers are known to be hip but Webster’s dictionary does not correlate hip or improper with our race so we should not either. A Black man as well as Hispanic, Filipino, Hawaiian, is one of God’s beautiful creations. Though I date Caucasian men, that does not lessen my love for any of my brothers. I consider white men to be my brothers as well, however, my goal is to show dedication to the efforts that ethnic men put forth daily in the world. A world where the reality is that life is hard and the darker you are the tougher it is to be seen as a prominent force in a positive light.
Who is the black man? Have you ever met him? A person cannot become known solely by their race. Instead their characteristics, attributes, and personality should be considering factors to based a description of who a person is. John Blake, a reporter with CNN has reported on Barack Obama’s effect on the lives of black men. As many do not have fathers to guide them toward manhood, Blake’s report discusses a Big Brother program where black men are mentors to young males in their communities. Although they didn’t reach their goal, a record number of black men — 650,000 — participated this year in an annual Million Father March. The nationwide march was organized by the Black Star Project, a nonprofit group based in Chicago, Illinois (Is Obama inspiring black men to Step Up, CNNLiving, John Blake, 2009, edition.cnn.com
People should understand that besides shooting a ball, flipping cards at a lunch table or performing on stage, our men are thinkers and leaders. As if they were stepping stones toward the Oval office, Jesse Jackson made an attempt for the Presidency (1988) and during the Bush administration, Colin Powell served as Secretary of State (2001-2005). These are examples of the strength that brothers possess.
From history we know of Eli Whitney, Frederick Douglas, Thurgood Marshall, Tuskegee Airman, Nelson Mandela and many more great names but I want us all to discover the individuals of this generation. I will not include any names because I am leaving the option available for you to place a name there: YOUR NAME. Brother who are you and what can you give to your world?
Hard times are still to come for all of us. Rear guard actions will be fought at every political crossroad. But make no mistake: Change is a motherfucker when you run from it. And right now, the conservative movement in America is fleeing from dramatic change that is certain and immutable. A man of color is president for the second time, and this happened despite a struggling economic climate and a national spirit of general discontent. He has been returned to office over the specific objections of the mass of white men. He has instead been re-elected by women, by people of color, by homosexuals, by people of varying religions or no religion whatsoever. Behold the New Jerusalem. Not that there’s anything wrong with being a white man, of course. There’s nothing wrong with being anything. That’s the point(Barack Obama And The Death Of Normal, THE AUDACITY OF DESPAIR: Collected Prose, links and occasional ventings of David Simon, 2012)
Beauty can be found in all races of people. Since I am a representative of African American men and women, my writing has been shared with you all to show appreciation and care for my black men. Most are good fathers and citizens but society only see what the media post on television. As you was reading the article I hope you noticed the pictures within it. These are our minority men. They work hard. They are beautiful. They are great. They are an image of God.
