Hailing from the city that produced the likes of Notorious BIG and Jay-Z, twenty-year old So Fly Smooth is destined to be the next successful iconic Hip-Hop Artist. Born Marcel Brown, He is the middle child of seven children (five boys and two girls). He grew up in a single parent household without a father. Marcel’s mother was always strong minded and supported him in all aspects of his life rather it be school when he wanted to be in the business field; either as a top marketing exec, or an accountant with a Big 4 firm or music. With little to no one in his family having success, Marcel’s mom always pushed him to chase his dreams. Marcel felt without her help, support, and direction he didn’t know where would he would have been. In addition, Marcel’s step dad was also around about half of his life and believes him to be the father figure he never had. Marcel Brown AKA “So Fly Smooth” has always been a school boy. He graduated elementary school as Valedictorian, Middle School as Salutatorian, and also became the first male in his family to graduate high school and attend College (Saint Bonaventure University). Marcel AKA “So Fly Smooth” decided to return from St. Bonaventure University with a full scholarship to New York City (NYC) due to the birth of his first daughter and determination to establish a music career. He is later expecting his second daughter in the fall of 2011. Growing up music has always played an important role in “So Fly Smooth” life; from having his own karaoke machines, to recording the hottest songs on the radio to viewing how the game is continuously re-invented, “So Fly Smooth” fell in love with every aspect of it. He use to think he was Marvin Gaye re-incarnated. “So Fly Smooth” feels that any career path we choose, we should love it. He has a love for music and at the same time has the talent and drive to pursue it. That’s a match made in heaven. He decided to choose the name “So Fly Smooth” because he felt it described him and also the elements he was bringing into the rap game..” So Fly Smooth is not just a name but a lifestyle.
A lifestyle that’s smooth enough for the ladies and at the same time fly enough for the fellas. I posses the lyrical ability that crosses over from the underground to mainstream music. Along with Jay-z, Biggie, Mase, as well as J Cole and Big Sean. Rapping since the age of eight, Smooth tells his story growing out of the Bedford-Stuyvesant section of Brooklyn, commonly known as Bed-Stuy, also being the first of his family to attend college. Inspired by Fabolous, Biggie “B.I.G.” Smalls, and Jay-Z, Smooth hopes to use his musical talents along with his education in Accounting & Markerting to be a successful artist.
